On February 23, 2010 the Personnel Improvement Center collaborated with the National Coalition on Personnel Shortages in Special Education and Related Services and the National Association of Elementary School Principals to present a webinar focused on principal leadership for support of special education and related service providers.  

Mentoring Instructional Support Staff: Strategies for Achieving Recruitment, Retention, and Successful Service Delivery

School districts around the country struggle to cope with critical shortages of Speech-Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists and other related service providers (also known as Specialized Instructional Support Personnel). A well organized mentoring program can inspire professionals who are new to schools to succeed and deliver the highest quality of services in the most efficient and effective manner. This webinar features two examples of successful mentoring programs for school-based therapists. Participants will hear highlights about the programs goals, how they are organized and the impact on recruitment and retention.
